Agra: Fish died due to dirty water

The primary reason for the death of fish in Keetham of Tajnagari Agra is considered to be polluted water and heavy metals present in it. On Saturday, water sampling was done from various places in Keetham Lake by the regional office of the Pollution Control Board. The exact reason for the death of the fish will become clear only after the report comes. Meanwhile, the Forest Department has also started efforts to resolve the issue by talking to Lucknow Fisheries Institute about the issue.
There are two salus gates of Agra City and Lower Lake Side Irrigation Department in Keetham Lake. These gates were broken some time ago. Water seeped from this started coming into Keetham Lake. When the ranger and warden of the forest department came to know about this, they informed the irrigation department. The department made temporary arrangements to block the water by putting sand bags, but due to continuous seepage of water, the level of water pollution in Keetham lake increased. As a result, hundreds of fish died.

On Saturday, the team of Dr. Vishwanath Sharma, Regional Officer of Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, visited the place where the fishes had died. Along with this, water samples have also been taken from many other places. They fear that the fish may have died due to high amount of heavy metals in the water.
At present the department has sent the sample to Lucknow for investigation. The report will come after three days. After this the exact reason for the death of the fish will be known. Meanwhile, the Forest Department has also held talks at the Fisheries Institute, Lucknow, which is studying fishes.
